TAIPEI - When developing joint systems, robotics companies often face the challenge of sourcing motors, gearboxes, drives, and encoders separately and integrating them through repeated iterations, extending the timeline from prototype to mass production. Dexmart Technology Corporation and its subsidiary Dexmart Robotics Inc are presenting one of their key products at Automation Taipei 2026 - the Precision Integrated Joint Actuator (Robot Actuator) series, which consolidates all critical joint components into a single module so that robotics teams can focus on higher-level algorithms and application development rather than hardware integration.
The series integrates motor, gearbox, drive, encoder, and safety functions within a unified module, fundamentally reducing the complexity of mechanical design and electrical control implementation. The product line comprises three specifications - PJI57, PJI78, and PJI106 - combining high torque density with compact form factors to address the torque and spatial requirements of different robot joint positions including the wrist, arm, elbow, knee, leg, and waist.
In terms of control architecture, each module features built-in dual absolute encoders at both the motor side and joint side, ensuring position control precision, torque stability, and joint motion reliability. The modules natively support MIT Mode and impedance control, directly addressing the development requirements of humanoid robots and legged robots in reinforcement learning, force control, and high-dynamic motion scenarios.
For development integration, the products support ROS Node, URDF, and Digital Twin, enabling customers to rapidly complete robot model construction, motion simulation, and upper-level algorithm validation. Communication interfaces include CANopen, EtherCAT, and UART/Modbus, allowing seamless connectivity with industrial controllers, robot controllers, or customer-proprietary platforms. The modules also incorporate built-in STO, brake control, motor over-temperature protection, and fault reporting mechanisms to ensure system-level safety and reliability.
The entire series is designed and manufactured in Taiwan, with support for rapid customization based on customer requirements for current rating, mechanical configuration, encoder type, communication protocol, and application specifications, helping robotics companies accelerate the journey from Sim-to-Real validation to mass production deployment.
Looking ahead to the next phase of the product roadmap, Dexmart has initiated the development of solutions compatible with the open-source robotics ecosystem. The company is planning integrated joint actuator modules that directly match the joint specifications of open-source robotic arm platforms such as Open Arm, integrating motor, gearbox, drive, and encoder, allowing open-source communities and startup teams to bypass piecemeal procurement and integration in favor of a plug-and-play approach that accelerates the path from open-source design to real-world operation. Concurrently, the team is developing integrated joint actuator modules rated IP67 and above for dust and water resistance, targeting extreme environment requirements in outdoor inspection, agricultural automation, and harsh industrial settings. Both product lines are planned for official release before the end of 2026.
