Technological Evolution in High-End Motion Control. Addressing the dual requirements of massive data processing and precise control in contemporary smart manufacturing, Taiwan's leading automation manufacturer FATEK has introduced the advanced M Series Hard PLC. In recent technology demonstrations, this dedicated hardware controller showcased three advanced motion control applications, demonstrating its technical capacity to meet the customized and complex demands of the high-end automation market through its hardware architecture advantages.
Physical Architecture Enhances Precision Control Stability. The stability of motion control often depends on the real-time nature of system responses. Unlike Soft PLCs that rely on operating system scheduling, the FATEK M Series utilizes a Hard PLC architecture with the logic solver embedded directly into the bottom layer of a single chip. This design effectively reduces delay interference from the application and system layers, offering an instruction processing speed of 0.8 nanoseconds and an interrupt latency of 3 microseconds. Combined with a patented anti-vibration bus and the multi-tasking distributed computing capabilities of communication expansion modules, the system enables low-latency and low-jitter sensor data collection without occupying CPU resources, providing a solid foundation for high-speed motion control.
Advanced Motion Control Addresses Complex Craftsmanship Needs. To demonstrate the practical performance of physical architecture under software and hardware integration, FATEK presented three advanced motion control solutions live to address specific industry processing requirements. Its 3D spatial curve interpolation function is applicable to the precision spraying industry, controlling nozzle movements along complex surfaces to ensure even paint application. Through microsecond-level responses, the electronic cams (ECAM) and dynamic flying shear technologies support the tracking and cutting of irregularly shaped moving items. Additionally, synchronous multi-axis dynamic picking and placing (Pick-and-place) functions help maintain stable operations and throughput on high-speed production lines.
Edge Computing Potential Supports Flexible Production Trends. In addition to high-speed instruction computing and an expansion capacity of up to 2048 points, the underlying architecture of the M Series Hard PLC also holds the potential for future AI computing expansion. This allows the hardware controller to not only manage on-site motion control but also function as an edge computing node, converting production parameters retrieved from the cloud into production processes in real-time. By providing reliable controller performance, FATEK assists the manufacturing industry in adapting to the flexible production trends of multi-variety and small-batch manufacturing, moving steadily toward smart manufacturing upgrade goals.
